Map & how to get here
The Powerhouse Museum is currently open from 10:00am - 5.00pm every day except Christmas Day. (Extended opening times for some public and/or school holidays.)
Getting around the Museum
Ramps and the glass-walled lift (a highlight for children) enable access with a pram or stroller to all the gallery levels of the Powerhouse. Children require adult supervision when using the escalators (and for safety reasons, prams and strollers are not permitted on the escalators).
Food
A child-friendly café is located in the Grace Bros courtyard on level 1 (the lowest gallery level of the Museum). Here, you can eat food purchased from the café or that you have brought with you. Within view of the courtyard tables is the new Cogs' Playground – so parents/carers can relax while watching their children enjoy this state-of-the-art playground equipment.
Eating is not allowed inside the Museum.
Baby change rooms
There is a baby change room near the lift on level 2 of the Museum. This room also contains a microwave for heating of baby bottles. A baby change table is also located in the disabled toilet on level 5 outside the Members Lounge.
Photography at the Museum
The Powerhouse Museum welcomes visitors taking (no-flash) photographs in and around the Museum whilst visiting us for personal use.

If you are arriving via Chinatown, take the Entertainment Centre carpark lift up to the Paddy’s Market monorail station walkway. Follow the walkway to the Museum. There is also ramp access to the entrance of the Museum from Harris Street.
Where to put your bags
Bags and strollers can be cloaked for free. The cloaking counter is located opposite the admissions counter after you have entered the Museum.

Group visits
The Museum welcomes visits from mother groups, day care centres, preschools, etc. Bookings are recommended for larger groups and special programs may be available. Call (02) 9217 0222 for more information.
Lost children
To get help if you and your child/children get separated in the Museum, look for the staff wearing blue Powerhouse shirts or ask at the cloaking counter on level 3. Lost children will be taken to the cloaking counter.
Child supervision
The Museum has no creche facilities, so parents or carers must stay with their child/children at all times. Unaccompanied children will be taken to the cloaking counter on level 3 (the Harris St entrance level) until their parents/carers can be found.
First aid
The Museum has trained first aid officers on duty at all times. Please contact a member of staff if you require first aid assistance.
