Locomotive No.1 has had a very long and interesting life right here in New South Wales. She arrived from England in 1855 and was soon taking passengers around the town of Sydney.
Loco No.1 has been in the Powerhouse Museum's Collection for 120 years and has been restored most recently in 1980, when a team of dedicated people took 8 years to bring her back to life. In 1988 Loco No.1 took her place on her very own platform near the main entrance foyer inside the Museum.
You can see Loco No.1 and her 3 carriages when you visit us. If you can't make it in, you can see her here and find out more about her story.
